Satellite Solar Activity

Satellite Solar Activity

Twice each year during the Spring and Fall Microspace’s Satellite customers may experience interference due to a event known as “solar outages.” A solar outage is an interruption in satellite signals caused by interference from the sun’s radiation. It is caused when the sun is directly facing a satellite and the sun’s radiation temporarily overwhelms the satellite’s signal. Our engineers carefully predict the length of each interruption and release a Satellite Solar Activity twice a year, which can be viewed by selecting a specific satellite from this page’s sub-menu.
