Our own Chris Collins has been leading a St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser for the past three years, and is looking to raise more money this year to beat 2017’s record donation of $11,961.00. The goal for this year is to raise over $12,000 for the organization.

The St. Baldricks Foundation raises money to support the best childhood cancer research. In 2000, it started with a dare – would you shave your head and donate money to kids’ cancer research? Today, more than 1,000 head-shaving events happen throughoutu the world.

Chris started the fundraiser along with the Cary Judo Club back in 2015 to support Oliver Gant, who underwent both radiation and chemotheraphy treatments at only three years old. This year the fundraiser is supporting sisters Beatrice and Embree.

The fundraising event will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at United Martial Arts Academy of Cary.
